SPOILER ALERT!!!!! Stop reading if you haven’t seen the movie yet!

I caught the film this week with my sister-in-law and it’s FABULOUS! Seriously, it’s really good. I would go see it again.

The movie offers valuable advice for women in their 30s and 40s regarding what it takes to make a relationship work and be happy with someone long-term. In other words, it shows a glimpse of what happens behind or beyond the fairy tale.

Can I just say that I love Steve? I would not mind having a Steve. Yes, he fucked up, but he came clean right away, he was extremely sorry, and tried really hard to make it up to Miranda, who was partly at fault, in my opinion. The scene where they reunite on the Brooklyn Bridge was so iconic; I got teary-eyed.

Big, on the other hand, remains on my shit list. I do not trust that man, and I don’t think Carrie should have gotten back together with him at the end of the movie. I honestly don’t see what the attraction is. He wears suits all the time and just stands around making sly remarks. In the case of Steve and Miranda, Steve fucked up, but he obviously loves Miranda and wants to be with her – no question. With Big there are always questions. And Carrie deserves more than questions. I don’t care how many times he’s been married before. Like the Dad in Juno said, “the right person is still going to think the sun shines out of your ass,” and if Big really thought this about Carrie he never would have done to her what he did, IMHO. The scene of Carrie looking into the mirror with bloodshot eyes was heartbreaking, and something I unfortunately identified with.

The power of friendship in this movie is very strong – it was a good reminder for me.

Charlotte is so cute in this movie – I love her. I’d take her Harry any day – either him or Steve.

The Samantha story line was OK – it didn’t blow me away.

I appreciated the shout-outs to St. Louis. Woo hoo!
